Director of the Conference of Italian University Rectors (CRUI) since 1997 and Director of the CRUI Foundation since 2001.
Since 2010 she has been a member of the Scientific Council of UNIRES – Italian Centre for Research on Universities and Higher Education Systems and Director of the European Accreditation of Engineering Programmes (EUR-ACE).
She is a consultant for the Italian National Commission of UNESCO, a member of the Council of the European Universities Association (EUA) and a member of the National Commission for the Promotion of the Italian Language Abroad established at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
She is an external expert for the evaluation of the Italian secondary education system.
Since 1993 member of the Evaluation Units of many Italian universities: Campobasso, Messina, Reggio Calabria, Roma Tre, Milan, Venice, Modena, Udine, Bari, Ferrara, Naples Federico II, IUL Florence.
She was Director of the Inter-University Consortium for Development Cooperation (CONICS) from 2000 to 2007.
A member of the Editorial Board of the journal Universitas, she is the author of numerous publications on various aspects of university life.
