The Reverend James Raymond A. Cortez is a Filipino priest from the diocese of Caceres (Philippines), born on August 31, 1985 and currently residing in Rome.
Father Cortez is a doctoral candidate in philosophy at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) in Rome.
Previously he obtained a bachelor’s degree in philosophy (ecclesiastical degree) and a master’s degree in philosophy (civil degree) cum laude from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas in Manila.
In the field of philosophical research, Reverend Cortez is a member of the Philosophical Association of the Philippines (PAP) and has published on Newman’s thought in the journal of the Faculty of Philosophy.
In his diocese (Caceres), he was responsible for the training of seminarians and was responsible for the office for women and children in emergency situations.
He currently holds the role of spiritual director of the Filipino community in Rome (via Cassia).
He collaborated with AVEPRO as a member of the Agency’s Scientific Council in the period 2021-2022.
