Fr. Roberth Alexander HERNANDEZ GOMEZ

A Venezuelan priest, he was born in the Province of Tachira on 7 November 1969.

After his priestly ordination in 1995, he obtained a degree in Education with a specialisation in Philosophy, from the Saint Thomas Aquinas Ecclesiastical Institute (IUESTA).

He later did postgraduate studies in Educational Management at the National Experimental University of Tachira (UNET).

In 2003, having worked in the diocese as parish vicar, parish priest, professor at IUESTA and vice-rector of the minor seminary, he was sent to Rome to study Biblical Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Urbe, where he obtained his Licentiate in 2006.

In 2009, he received his Doctorate, with a thesis on the death of John the Baptist in the Gospel of Mark.

Returning to the diocese, the following year he was called to work in the former Congregation for Catholic Education.

Rev. Hernandez is an official in the University Office of the Dicastery for Culture and Education and is in charge of Catholic Universities and Spanish and Portuguese-speaking ecclesiastical faculties around the world.
