Rev. Salvatore LOIERO

Salvatore Loiero, born in 1973 in Aschaffenburg (D), has Italian and German nationality. He studied at the Otto-Friedrich-University of Bamberg (D), faculty of Catholic Theology where he defended his doctoral thesis in Fundamental Theology and Ecumenical Theology in 2005.

He collaborated with the University of Bayreuth (department of Catholic Theology), the Catholic University Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (faculty of Theology) where in 2009 he received his qualification in practical theology.

He was appointed full professor, president of Pastoral Theology, religious and homiletic education at the Faculty of Catholic Theology of the University of Friborg (CH).

Loiero is director of the Center for Comparative Pastoral Studies at the same faculty and represents the professors’ council in the quality assurance committee of the University of Freiburg.

From 2010 to 2013, Professor Loiero was Managing Director of the Agency for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Canonical Study Programs in Germany – AKAST. He was ordained a priest in 2015 (diocese of Lausanne-Genève-Fribourg).
