On 5 June 2023, Pope Francis appointed the priest Armand Puig i Tàrrech as the new president of AVEPRO.
Born in La Selva del Camp, Spain, on 9 March 1953, he was ordained on 25 April 1981 for the Archdiocese of Tarragona.
He obtained a licentiate in Sacred Scripture from the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome and a doctorate in the same discipline from the Pontifical Biblical Commission.
He has taught in various faculties and institutes of theology.
He was dean of the Facultat de Teologia de Catalunya and is currently rector of the Ateneu Universitari Sant Pacià in Barcelona.
