Rev. Dinh Anh Nhue NGUYEN

Born in Qui Nhon (Vietnam), Rev. Prof. Dinh Anh Nhue Nguyen is a member of the Order of Friars Minor Conventual (OFMConv).

He is professor and president of the Pontifical Theological Faculty of San Bonaventure-Seraphicum (Rome) (since 2016), as well as founder and director of FIATS-Franciscan Institute for Asian Theological Studies at the Seraphicum (since 2015).

He is an invited professor (“invited professor”) at the Pontifical Gregorian University and the Pontifical Urbaniana University (Rome) and Honorary Research Associate of the University of Divinity / Catholic Theological College (Melbourne, Australia), where he taught from 2006 to 2011.

He holds a Master of Science in Engineering from Tula State Technical University (1994, Russia) and a doctorate in Biblical Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University (2005, Rome).

He received the Brenninkmeijer-Werhahn Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem for the spring semester, 2007.

He received the 2013 Carlo Maria Martini International Prize (Bible and Culture Category) for his research The Bible and Asian culture: Reading the Word of God in its cultural background and in the Vietnamese context (written with Tran Thi Ly and Jb Pham Quy Trong ) (Rome: Gregorian & Biblical Press, 2016).

His latest two publications are: Jesus the Wise of God and the Wisdom of God: Introductory Biblical-Theological Investigation to Rethink Wisdom Christology in the Synoptic Gospels [Jesus the Wise of God and Divine Wisdom: An Introduction to Biblical-Theological Theology to Rethink Christology of wisdom in the Synoptic Gospels] (Rome: Casa Editrice Miscellanea Francescana, 2017); and Numbers: Introduction, Translation, Commentary [Numbers: introduction, translation, commentary] (New version of the Bible from ancient texts; Cinisello Balsamo: San Paolo, 2017).

He recently edited (with Jude Winkler) the first collective work of FIATS: Biennial book of Franciscan Asia 2016-2017: Research and reflection on Christian faith and values in Asia (Rome: Casa Editrice Miscellanea Francescana, 2017).

His current academic interests are: biblical meshalim, biblical wisdom literature, the Jewish wisdom tradition, Jesus the Wise, the Bible in the Franciscan tradition, and biblical inculturation in Asia.
