
Born in Altkirch, France, in 1989, he is a member of the Community of Sant’Egidio. Philippe Joël gained his Baccalauréat in Service de Proximité et de Vie Locale at the Lycée Jean Jacques Henner in 2008 and a Diploma in Médiation citoyennes: éducation, culture, social, environnement from the University of Strasbourg in 2010.
In 2012 he was among the founders of the Strasbourg branch of the Association Coexister, founded in Paris in 2009 and aimed at fostering interreligious dialogue.
He obtained a Baccalaureat in Sacred Theology from the Pontifical University Antonianum in 2018, and is currently studying for a second cycle Licentiate specializing in Dogmatic Theology at the same Pontifical University.
He acted as a student representative for the Faculty of Theology within the Academic Senate of the Pontifical University Antonianum (PUA) in the academic years 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 and has been a student representative for the Faculty of Theology since 2015. He has been a PUA delegate to the Association of Students of Roman Pontifical Universities since 2017, and was elected Vice President of the Association in October 2018.
