Prof. Dinh Anh Nhue NGUYEN, OFMConv

 
Born in Qui Nhon (Vietnam), Rev. Prof. Dinh Anh Nhue Nguyen is a member of the Order of Friars Minor Conventual (OFMConv). He is Professor and President of the Pontifical Theological Faculty of St Bonaventure – Seraphicum (Rome) (since 2016), as well as founding Director of FIATS – Franciscan Institute for Asian Theological Studies at the Seraphicum (since 2015). He is invited professor (“professore invitato”) at the Pontifical Gregorian University and Pontifical Urban University (Rome), and Honorary Research Associate of the University of Divinity / Catholic Theological College (Melbourne, Australia), where he taught from 2006 to 2011. He holds a Master of Science in Engineering from the Tula State Technical University (1994, Russia), and a Doctorate in Biblical Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University (2005, Rome).
He was granted the post-doctoral Brenninkmeijer-Werhahn Research Fellowship at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem for the Spring semester, 2007. He received the Carlo Maria Martini International Award 2013 (Category of Bible and Culture) for the research The Bible and Asian Culture: Reading the Word of God in Its Cultural Background and in the Vietnamese Context (written with Tran Thi Ly and Jb Pham Quy Trong) (Rome: Gregorian & Biblical Press, 2016).
His two latest publications are: Gesù il saggio di Dio e la Sapienza di Dio: Indagine biblicoteologica introduttiva per ripensare la cristologia sapienziale nei vangeli sinottici [Jesus the Sage of God and Divine Wisdom: An Introductory Biblical-theological Inquiry to Rethink the Wisdom Christology in the Synoptic Gospels] (Rome: Casa Editrice Miscellanea Francescana, 2017); and Numeri: Introduzione, Traduzione, Commento [Numbers: Introduction, Translation, Comment] (Nuova Versione della Bibbia dai testi antichi; Cinisello Balsamo: San Paolo, 2017). He has recently edited (with Jude Winkler) the first FIATS collective work: Franciscan Asian Biennial Book 2016-2017: Research and Reflection on the Christian Faith and Values in Asia (Rome: Casa Editrice Miscellanea Francescana, 2017).
His current academic interests are: the biblical meshalim, biblical wisdom literature, the Jewish wisdom tradition, Jesus the Sage, the Bible in the Franciscan tradition, and biblical inculturation in Asia.
