
Born in La Spezia in 1964, Prof. M. Melone belongs to the Angeline Franciscan Sisters (SFA). She is the Rector of the Pontifical University Antonianum, where previously she had been the Dean of the Faculty of Theology.
Sr. Melone graduated in Teaching at the Libera Università Maria Santissima Assunta and in 2000 gained a PhD in Dogmatic Theology at the Pontifical University Antonianum. President of the Higher Institute of Religious Sciences Redemptor Hominis of the Pontifical University Antonianum from academic years 2001-2002 to 2007-2008, in 2011 she was appointed Professor at the Faculty of Theology of the same University.
President of the S.I.R.T., the Italian Society for Theological Research, Sr. Melone has published articles and essays in collections and journals – Antonianum, Doctor Seraphicus, Freiburger Zeitschrift für Philosophie und Theologie, Italia francescana, Quaderni di spiritualità francescana, Ricerche teologiche, Studi francescani, Theotokos and edited the volumes of Riccardo di San Vittore’s La preparazione dell’anima alla contemplazione: Beniamino Minore, and Antonio di Padova’s Camminare nella luce: sermoni scelti per l’anno liturgico for Edizioni Paoline.
On 16 July 2014 Pope Frances appointed her consultor of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life.
